The contrast between the fiber techniques of weaving and felting carries profound philosophical implications, as they respectively symbolize "order and disorder," "structure and fluidity," and "intention and natural development." Beyond mere craftsmanship, these techniques embody numerous dualities and their potential for synthesis in philosophy.
Weaving represents the gradual realization of time and planning, where every segment reflects the labor and intent embedded in the process. In contrast, felting emphasizes the "instantaneous" transformation, where fibers bond rapidly through friction and pressure in a shorter timeframe. This process evokes a sense of "instantaneous eternity," with outcomes that are often unpredictable.
As a creator who employs these two techniques as the core of my practice, I strive to produce unique works and vocabulary through the interplay and integration of these opposites. Through experimental exploration, I seek to express profound reflections on life, time, existence, and the essential nature of materials.
