"From This Thing to That Object"《從此物到彼處》

關於「凋零」這個人一生必經的過程為命題,我一個想到的便是鐵鏽染,於是接下來在這件作品-《從此物到彼處》中詮釋:

「鏽蝕」–象徵著一個物件的進入了逐漸毀壞的生命末期,紅褐色的鐵鏽屑,沾染了每個試圖觸碰它的來客,甚至不小心受傷。似乎最適合末期物件的樣貌,是安靜、不張揚地在暗處化為塵土、最後消逝無人紀念。我們常用「記憶生了鏽…」形容逐漸模糊的認知與回憶。然而,「鏽應該等於淘汰」嗎?記憶的留存僅僅只存在於會敗壞的大腦器官嗎?
以鏽的髒污為墨,我以一個第三者身分,為這些消逝中的、沒有機會綻放的,以物質的活性,將對物品(記憶)的不捨心情滲透進纖維物件後重新生成為另一樣貌。每個人的記憶裡,都有一方永遠燦爛的花園,即便它褪了色,有別真實而扭曲變形,但它依然可以盛開著。

The theme of this work, "From This Thing to That Object", centers on "decay," a process every life inevitably faces. My first thought was rust dyeing, which inspired the following interpretation:

"Corrosion" symbolizes the gradual disintegration marking the end of an object’s life. The reddish-brown rust stains cling to anyone who touches it, sometimes even causing injury. Objects in their final stage often seem destined for a quiet, unremarkable existence, fading into dust and disappearing unnoticed. We often say, "Memory has rusted," to describe the gradual erosion of our cognition and recollections. But does rust always signify obsolescence? Must memory be confined to the fragile organ of the brain?

Using rust stains as ink, I act as an observer, giving new life to these fading, unrealized objects. Through the active qualities of rust, I transform fiber materials to embody the bittersweet attachment to fading memories. In everyone’s mind, there exists a garden that blooms eternally. Though its colors may fade and its form distort, it can still flourish, no matter how altered it becomes.
